Dr Melinda Reid is an Australian educator, researcher, and writer living and working on the unceded lands of the Gadigal and Wangal peoples of the Eora Nation. She received her PhD in Art, Media, and Design from the University of New South Wales in 2018. Melinda’s essays have been published locally and overseas. Her work has appeared in the Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism, Australian and New Zealand Journal of Art, Unlikely: Journal of Creative Arts, Hag Mag, Mülk, Framework, Parallel, Running Dog, Runway, and Un Magazine. Her writing has also been commissioned for exhibition texts published by Boxcopy, Firstdraft, Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Arts Centre, Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery, and UTS Art Gallery. Melinda teaches at the University of New South Wales, University of Technology, Sydney, and the National School of Art. Her current research explores participatory art dynamics, the absence/presence of performance art traces, experimental pedagogies, and guilty pleasures.
